Craft breweries showcased their best recipes and competed across nearly 120 categories, and beer outfits from the Blue Ridge region showed up in force, with more than a dozen brewers taking top podium spots. South Carolina

If you’re a fan of Belgian brews, the Palmetto State is home to two of the world’s best. Greer’s Southern Growl Beer Company earned top honors in the Belgian-Style Quadrupel grouping for its Quad Bless Your Heart. The beastly 9.8% ABV beverage is seriously good, with rich, malty notes of cherry cordial, sweet raisins, burnt caramel, and a warm boozy finish. A dozen miles away in Greenville, Liability Brewing Company took gold in the Belgian-Style Blond Ale category with its sustainably brewed, Feral Garden Gnome.
