Liability Brewing Company Celebrates Recertification as a Certified B Corporation

April 29, 2025  | Liability Brewing Company

GREENVILLE, SC, 4/29/2025 – Liability Brewing Company, a locally owned and independent craft brewery, is proud to announce its recertification as a Certified B Corporation (B Corp) by B Lab, the nonprofit organization behind the global B Corp movement.

Following its initial certification, Liability Brewing Company successfully completed the required recertification process, which occurs every three years. This rigorous process involves completing the B Impact Assessment and undergoing an in-depth verification review by B Lab. Transparency and accountability are fundamental principles of the B Corp community, and recertification ensures that companies continue to meet these high standards.

Certified B Corporations are businesses that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability, balancing profit with purpose. Unlike traditional corporations, B Corps prioritize the well-being of all stakeholders — including employees, communities, customers, and the environment — rather than focusing solely on shareholder returns.

Organizations must achieve a minimum verified score of 80 on the B Impact Assessment to become certified. This comprehensive evaluation measures a company’s impact across five key areas: Governance, Workers, Community, Environment, and Customers. Liability Brewing Company recertified with an improved score of 86.9, up from its original certification score of 81.3. Their full B Impact Report and company profile can be viewed at: www.bcorporation.net/en-us/find-a-b-corp/company/liability-brewing-company

In addition to its B Corp status, Liability Brewing Company strengthened its legal commitment to public benefit by becoming a registered South Carolina Benefit Corporation in 2021. The company’s latest Annual Impact Report for 2024 is available at liabilitybrewing.co/benefit-report, with previous reports archived at liabilitybrewing.co/latest

Liability Brewing Company is proud to be one of only 18 breweries in the United States to hold this prestigious certification, joining a community of over 6,000 Certified B Corporations across more than 80 countries and 150 industries.

“We’re thrilled to announce our recertification as a B Corp!” said Kathy Horner, General Manager of Liability Brewing Company. “Over the past three years, our small but mighty team of 12 has worked diligently to improve our practices while growing our business. The increase in our B Impact Assessment score from 81.3 to 86.9 reflects the everyday commitment of our team. As B Lab continues to evolve its standards, we are excited to explore the new framework and prepare for our next recertification in 2028.”

Liability Brewing Company remains committed to using business as a force for good — for its employees, its community, and the world.
